Emergency Medicine Residency Program

Meet the Emergency Medicine Residency Class of 2027!

EM Class 27

The University of Utah Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency is a PGY 1-3 program. The program is based at the University of Utah Health Hospital, a tertiary care center and level 1 trauma center in Salt Lake City. In addition, residents will rotate at Intermountain Medical Center, the flagship regional referral center for the Intermountain Healthcare System and also a level 1 trauma center. Dedicated pediatric rotations will occur at Primary Children's Medical Center, a regional referral center and level 1 trauma center located next to the University hospital. Additional rotations will occur at the Salt Lake VA Medical Center.

The primary goal of the University of Utah Emergency Medicine Residency Program is to produce well-rounded competent emergency physicians who are able to practice independently. Central to this goal is the development of a high level of competence in the initial recognition, evaluation, resuscitation and stabilization of acute illness and injury in all patients. Additional goals include furthering the academic development of the specialty of emergency medicine, producing meaningful research contributions in the field of emergency medicine, and promoting the specialty of emergency medicine locally, regionally, and nationally.

We will match 12 residents per year, for a full complement of 36 residents in July 2024. We are looking for self motivated individuals who are excited to join us in building an outstanding emergency medicine training program.
