At U-POWER, we conduct research and outreach dedicated to the pursuit of safe, healthy, and equitable work, by which we mean a system of work where anyone, with hard work and dedication, can succeed thanks to merit. We envision a future where all workers have the opportunity for good health for themselves, their families, and their communities. We conduct research that explores how workers and employers can thrive in the present while innovating in service of the future.
What research do we do? Our research takes many forms, including learning about what makes employees feel supported at work; how environmental service workers, a critical but oft-ignored group of employees in healthcare, can achieve well-being; and how we have—or haven't—talked about power in the occupational health literature up to this point. We also fund pilot research from researchers across disciplines on topics as varied as the needs of agricultural workers, the effect of union membership on how workers experienced COVID-19, and how remote work impacted work-life balance for women working in academic staff roles.
How can I get involved? Are you an employer interested in improving the health of your workplace and the well-being of your workers? Check out our social media channels below. Whatever the reason you've joined us, we're glad to have you here. U-POWER recognizes that in order to achieve safe, healthy, and equitable work for everyone, we must bring together workers and employers, researchers, professionals, and community.
Together, we can ensure that the conditions of work promote the health and well-being of workers and communities.
