Originally from Montana, I grew up running, skiing and exploring the outdoors. My husband and I met at Gonzaga University and the next 20 years were spent moving around the country as he served in the US Army and I had the privilege of raising our ever growing family. After completing PA school, we found ourselves back in the mountains of Montana where I practiced as a PA, continuing to raise our 7 wild kiddos to be the fullest version of themselves, and enjoying the Bridgers, being close to extended family, and the best acai bowls after a summer trail run. A move to Oregon for medical school allowed us to enjoy the coast and mountains of the beautiful PNW and the many coffee shops of Portland. Utah's mountains and national parks are next on the list!
Medical Areas of Interest
Global Health, wilderness medicine, rural medicine...anything in the "limited resource" realm of medicine.
Interests & Hobbies
Running is a constant form of therapy to me: roads, trails, flat, hilly, muddy...the more the better. Watching my kiddos do what they're excited about is one of my favorite current hobbies, whether it be aerial arts, volleyball, football, track, cross country, wrestling, theater, or any of the other amazing things they keep busy with. Travel, especially to areas of natural wonder or completely different cultures, is a passion of mine. When not running, supporting my kids, or traveling, I can be found sipping coffee, crocheting, or watching an episode of The Office while eating chocolate cake with my husband. Life is never boring!
Why Utah?
I often heard from those that had gone onto residency before me that some programs just "feel right". Utah just "felt right" during my interview and second look. From the residents to the PD, everyone seems fulfilled, happy, and supported. The opportunities during residency (rural sites, ski clinic,...) and fellowship (Global health, wilderness medicine,...) make me excited for the road ahead. And, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the mountains and the amazing geology that Utah has to offer!
