Educational Development Services

High-stakes exams present significant challenges, including intense pressure and anxiety for trainees, which can impact their performance. These exams often require extensive preparation and a deep understanding of complex material, making them a daunting hurdle. Additionally, the outcomes of these exams can have major implications for a trainee's career progression, adding to the stress and importance of performing well.

Our goal is to ensure the success of our trainees who have not passed Step 3, COMLEX-3, or their Professional Board Exam through the following approach:

    1. Identify Barriers to Exam Success: Meet with the trainee to discuss and identify any obstacles they are facing in their exam preparation.
    2. Evaluate Study Strategies and Materials: Review the trainee's current study strategies and exam materials to ensure they are effective and comprehensive.
    3. Develop a Personalized Study Plan: Create a weekly study plan tailored to the trainee's schedule and important events, ensuring a balanced and manageable approach to exam preparation.
    4. Monitor Progress Regularly: Schedule regular check-ins to assess the trainee's progress, provide feedback, and make any necessary adjustments to the study plan.
    5. Provide Support Resources: Connect the trainee with Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Wellness resources as needed to support their overall well-being and stress management.

The transition to fellowship can be challenging due to increased responsibilities and expectations. Fellows are tasked with educating and supervising trainees while also navigating their early careers. Given the variable educational training fellows receive prior to starting their fellowship, managing learners, providing feedback, and employing effective teaching methods can be particularly daunting, especially in non-education fellowship programs.

To address these challenges, we have developed a comprehensive workshop designed to facilitate the transition of fellows into supervisory roles. This program emphasizes key areas such as supervising learners, on-shift teaching, and career development. Our goal is to equip fellows with the skills and confidence needed to excel in their supervisory and educational responsibilities, ensuring a smooth and successful transition into their fellowship roles
