Prospective candidates will be contacted after November 1st to arrange for an interview with our department. Interviews are by invitation only and will take place in early to mid-January. Our program offers one to two PGY-2 positions annually, and approximately 20-30 applications are interviewed for these positions.

Candidates for the program are selected based on their preparedness, ability, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities, such as integrity and motivation. The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine does not discriminate based on sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or veteran's status.

University of Utah Inclusion Days

The University of Utah Office for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion along with Graduate Medical Education will sponsor two Inclusion days in 2022-2023 for applicants from underrepresented/historically excluded groups to Utah to meet with a diverse panel of residents to learn more about living in Utah.

Post-Interview Communication

Our interview day is designed to provide applicants with a thorough view of our training program. Interviewees will have multiple opportunities to ask our residents, leadership, faculty, and administrative staff questions. For questions that may arise after the interview day, applicants will receive contact information for program representatives who are more than happy to answer any questions.

The University of Utah Department of Radiation Oncology requests that applicants do not send thank you notes or emails. These types of communications will not routinely receive a reply.

Our review committee and program leadership do not commonly reach out to applicants after an interview.
