Nate Dreyfus grew up in Saint Louis, MO and blames his boring, friendly earnestness on his midwestern upbringing. He found his way into medicine by an indirect route that included a couple of years working in conservation fieldwork, as an EMT and Clinical Research Coordinator before starting medical school. He has spent time living in Chile, Alaska, Colorado, Vermont and now California where he is completing residency at UCSF Fresno. He is enthusiastically mediocre at running, skiing, mountain biking, cooking, traveling, music and many other activities.
Utah's EMS Fellowship curriculum is a great match for my interests and career goals, and I appreciate the excellent people and culture within the fellowship and EM department in general. The amazing setting for outdoor pursuits is an exciting bonus.
Originally coming from Texas, with a return to medical school after a career in data analysis, mainly operations. Excited to be joining the crew in Utah to further my training with EMS. My goal is to continue to work in emergency medicine, but also become involved in pre-hospital medicine, with an emphasis on rural and austere EMS.
Utah provides the perfect setting to pursue not only a solid foundation in EMS, but also this sub-specialty areas of interest. I also can't wait to happily spend my spare time in the mountains, getting in all the climbing and skiing that I can!
I was born in Brooklyn, NYC but moved to London with my parents and identical twin brother when I was four. After 15 amazing years in the UK, I moved to rural Vermont to go to college where I studied biology and played rugby. After graduating, I worked as research tech at Dana-Farber studying radiation biology and transplant immunology in Boston. Now after 4 years in New York for medical school, I can’t wait to see what the west has to offer!
My name is Brian Merritt, and I am a current medical education fellow. I grew up in western Pennsylvania, completing my undergraduate studies at Slippery Rock University. I completed medical school at LECOM in Erie, PA, followed by residency at Florida State University in Sarasota, FL. My interests include medical education, mentorship, procedural training and simulation.
My fiancé is a PICU fellow at the U as well, and we moved here with our doggo, Marcy. When I’m not working, I like to hike and fly fish, explore local breweries, and anything else that will get me outdoors. I am incredibly excited to be here, to grow as an educator, and continue my professional development!
My name is Anisha Tailor, and I am currently finishing up my Emergency Medicine residency at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan. While I currently live in Detroit, I am originally from the land up north, Canada! I attended Saba University School of Medicine on the small, five square mile, island of Saba in the Caribbean. In my spare time, I love cooking dishes from around the world, reading books (particularly autobiographies right now), traveling to new countries and exploring new places, and spending time outdoors with my fiancé.
With the beautiful landscape and never-ending outdoor adventures that Utah has to offer, as well as the solid academic reputation of the university and dedication to global health, I am so excited to call Utah my future home!
Originally from Pleasant Grove, Utah, I did my undergraduate education at Utah Valley University before going to medical school at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine - Southern Utah. I am currently a PGY3 at Texas Tech University Health Science Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Lubbock, Texas. My wife and I have three kids with a fourth coming any day! I love the outdoors, running Ironman Triathlons, and hanging out with my family in the mountains.
Aside from close proximity to family, this program’s incredible appeal lies in its unique, highly desirable exposure to advanced imaging techniques, certifications, comprehensive systems/curriculum development, and more. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue my training with The University of Utah Health Ultrasound Fellowship.
I am from Lookout Mountain, GA which fostered my love for hiking and backpacking growing up. I studied Biology at the University of Georgia and attended Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, GA where I met my fiancé. I moved to WV for EM residency and developed a love of mountain biking and snow sports.
I am so excited to join the University of Utah as an ultrasound fellow to develop better educational skills, learn more about cardiac ultrasounds, and explore the application of ultrasound in both academic and rural settings. Having traveled to Utah several times, my fiancé and I fell in love with the area and cannot wait to join the community.
Hi everyone. I am Molly Enenbach, PGY3 at COPA. I grew up in the four corners region in New Mexico, played soccer in undergrad, then moved to Phoenix for medical school and residency. When I'm not working, I like spending my time outside running, camping, skiing, and hanging out with my family and dogs.
I am passionate about austere medicine and the global application of Wilderness Medicine. I chose Utah because of the program's incredible reputation and fantastic geographic setting. I am excited to work with you all next year!
Karl Koivisto, MD, is currently a Sports Medicine Fellow at the University of Utah. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Koivisto’s clinical interests include helping patients successfully manage their musculoskeletal injuries in order to live their best possible active life as well as taking care of the acutely injured athlete, event coverage, and exploring the intersection of emergency, sports, and wilderness medicine. He enjoys hiking, trail running, and spending time with his wife, children, and dogs.
Hannah trained in emergency medicine at the University of New Mexico and subsequently moved to Ashland, OR where she practiced as an EM attending at a community hospital for 4 years before coming to her senses and deciding to go back for a hospice & palliative care fellowship. EM and HPM have a lot amount of overlap, and she is excited to take a step forward and provide more intentional care for patients and their families. She is interested in the possibility of being an embedded palliative physician in the emergency department to help the vast unmet palliative and hospice needs of the ED patient population.
She has dragged her better half Jake and their 2 dogs now on 3 cross-country moves, and she promises it will be their last but he knows that those chances are slim when there are so many cool mountainous places to explore. When she’s not working, she’s probably somewhere hiking or running in the wilderness with her dog Zuni, making ultralight sleeping bags for dogs, or attempting to convince her husband to go on a type-2 fun adventure.
